New server up and running + information

This is a just a notification that the server emergency transference have successfully  be done, all sites are now in the new server. I will explain now in details why has this happened. A few weeks ago we noticed that the server was going down around 6 minutes every night (during peaks hours), we installed some logs scripts to see what was causing such high ‘loads averages’, after analyzing those logs we started to make some server modifications to solve the issue but none seemed to work, let’s explain it with another example; imagine you are ill and you go to the doctor so he can prescribe you some pills but your symptoms are too common which leads that the doctor is not really sure what is causing your pain but in order to solve the issue you need the right meds, if s/he gives you the wrong pills it may not help you or it could even go worse since you are not taking the right medicine, so this is what has happened here, we made a lot of changes but none of them worked, we kept running tests and making modifications on the server until we ended up with the conclusion that it was not our fault but it was a hardware issue on the datacenter, we were right.

I know this week have been a bit stressful for everyone –including us, knowing there is an complex issue and not being able to figure it out knowing there are clients affected is not something easy to handle and we have done our best to solve it as soon as possible – but finally the issue has been solved; the new server is also faster, it includes more DDOS protection and some other features. We want to apologize again for all the issues, trust us when we say we have worked hard to solve the issue as soon as possible but the issue was not an easy one.

You may receive now some getaway errors due to the nameservers IP change, cleaning your caché may help to remove the error faster.

Thank you + Server transference

Dear Host(ee)s,

First, we want to thank you for trusting us and our services, this month we have made one year online and we could not more excited. This couple of weeks we have received a lot of applications; as this was something we did not expect, server resources are on its limits (mostly disk space, we have plenty of CPU and RAM).

Our current server is 80% full so we are waiting for the new one to be delievered, once it is, we will start migrating all sites over. There will not be any downtime during the migration; you will be able to update your fansites as usually, as we will point your site to the new server once it has been transfered. For Fan Host clients, a support ticket will be automatically opened once we start migrating your site(s), another one will be sent once your site(s) are restored. Applications are right now on hold until new server is delivered and working. We will be updating our social networks and in our forum during the transference, so any updates will be posted there in real-time.

We want also to apologize for the downtime we had last week, we were going to send a e-mail to everyone with details but with the amount of transfers queue we had we completely forgot about it -sorry about that.

We want to thank you again for trusting us, a few months ago we wouldn’t believe we would grow this fast, we will keep doing our best to bring the best service.

How to migrate from our host

Hi everyone,

As we mentioned in the last post we’re going to explain how to migrate your site to another host if you’re hosted with us. In normal circumstances we have enabled backup option on cPanel but we had to disable it for security reasons, as we don’t know many sites will be migrated we had to temporally remove the option as it could slow down the server, produce small downtimes or in case there were a lot of migrations it could exceed server’s memory. How do we’ll proceed?

Sign up in our client area (my.fan-village.net), open a support ticket under Backup Request’s helpdesk, mention all sites you want to migrate and provide us cPanel log ins details of your new hosting account or instead a ftp account (you can create it on cPanel and then remove it, please, only one account, we’ll send all backups there so your hosting company can restore all of them), we’ll do it fast, so in less than 24-12 hours your backups will be there, time will depend on the amount of sites you have and its size .

In a week backup option will be available again for all users, understand we do this so hostess who decided to stay won’t suffer any downtime or server low-speed, after the issue we don’t want them to have any more issues. Security and performance is important for us and we want to keep providing good services.
